Robert Garrett Buchanan was the son of Judson and Mary Angie(Coffey) Buchanan.

On May 27, 1917 Robert registered for the WWI Draft. However he had already enlisted in one of the branches of military because on the registration card in answer to the question, "What military service have you had", Robert answered, "In training -- US Training Camp".

According to "Hamilton County Soldiers of World War I" at website;, Robert was a First Lieutenant in the 313th Cavalry, Troop B and was stationed at Camp Perry which is near Port Clinton, Ottawa County Ohio.

According to the Massiveness's General Hospital website, "Septicemia is the clinical name for blood poisoning. Septicemia that progresses to septic shock has a death rate as high as 50 percent, depending on the type of organism involved. Septicemia is a medical emergency and requires urgent medical treatment.")
