Andrew 'Andy' Ritchie

BAXTER — Andrew "Andy" Ritchie, 83, of Baxter, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at his home. Private family services will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley, Minn.
Andy was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Andrew D. and Marie M. (Miller) Ritchie. At an early age Andy and his family moved to St. Paul, and he later graduated from Humboldt High School. Andy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1947. In 1949, he was united in marriage to Coralie S. Sater. Andy began working for the U.S. Railway Mail and continued to be employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years. The couple moved to the Brainerd lakes area in 1982. Andy was an active member of the Masons and Shriners in St. Paul and was also a member of the Brainerd American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and spending the winter months in Mesa, Ariz.
Andy will be missed by his wife, Coralie; his sons, Richard (Diane) Ritchie of Aitkin and Roger (Mary) Ritchie, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his daughter, Debra (Robert) Davies of Forest Lake; his brother, Ronald (Judy) Ritchie, of North St. Paul; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Marie; sister, Mona Petrasek; son, Kenneth; grandchildren, Nathan and Jennifer; and great-grandson, Aiden Arthur.
