In Aug of 1862 he enlisted in the 108th Ohio Infantry of the Union Army. He was a private in company B and it was an allGerman unit. They were organized at Camp Denison near Cincinnati.
The 1870 Census shows Ernest 30 Mary 28 Dara(Bernadine) 7 Henry 3 Ernest 6m and they were living in Covington, Ky
In 1880 they were living in Covington Ernest 40 Mary 38 Dinah 17 Henry 13 Charles John 7 George 5 William 3 Aug 1
* 1883 their last child Fred E was born.
1906-Ernest Kleier age 58 died at 116 Watkins Ave. Covington(His home was on 12th Street) he is buried at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Ky.
The 1910 Census lists: Covington- Mary Klare (sp) 67 Henry 44 Charles 11 and George 8 (2 sons of Charles John who had died)
In 1918 Mary Kleier died at age 75 of heart disease and is buried at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Ky.
