Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Patricia Ann "Patty" Cowart, age 83, of Swainsboro, GA on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Facility, Winston-Salem, NC.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Swansboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. Nick Hazelton officiating assisted by Rev. David Unkles.
Interment will follow in the Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Swainsboro First United Methodist Church, Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12:30 PM till time of service. Pallbearers are Sidney Lanier, John Torpy, Bill Rogers, Gene Ragsdale, Henry Terwilliger, Robert Coleman, Milton Gray and Frank Canady. Honorary Escorts will be the ECI Class of 1953.

Mrs. Cowart was born February 1, 1935 in Lyons, Toombs County, GA to the late James Herbert and Mary Pauline Peebles Hall. She grew up in Twin City and was a graduate of ECI (Emanuel County Institute). Mrs. Cowart was a member of the Swainsboro First United Methodist Church, Gordon Fountain Sunday School Class, Mae Vann Group United Methodist Women, Served on the Administrative Board, was past Chairman of the Evangelism Committee and taught Youth Sunday School for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie James Cowart Sr.; son, Charlie James Cowart Jr.; sister, Gloria Jean Hall Anderson; and brother, James Larry Hall.

Survivors include a daughter and son-In-law, Diane Cowart Hinzman and Tommy of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter, Mallory Hinzman; nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
