War of the Rebellion Vet Company E 1st Maine Cavalry. Enlisted August 13, 1862, mustered out May 29, 1865. Injured his back when his horse fell during a charge May 1864 in Virginia. He had been in poor health since the end of the war and death came as a happy release.
