US Congressman. The Le Mars, Iowa, native moved to Billings County, North Dakota, as a child. After graduating from Pillsbury Military Academy in Minnesota he returned to North Dakota where he became a successful rancher and was the county supervisor for the Farm Security Administration. He served in Congress from 1959 to 1965. After losing his re-election bid for a fourth term he resumed cattle ranching in North Dakota.
