Dr. Robert Ralston Lynd was born in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of Rev. Dr. Samuel W. and Leonora Maria Staughton Lynd. He was admitted to Woodward College in Cincinnati on August 29, 1842, remaining there four and one half years.
Dr. Lynd opened his medical practice and in 1850 married Julia Catherine Bush, daughter of Philip Smith and Vicy Tousey Bush, of Kentucky.
In the 1860 Federal Census, Robert and Julia were living in the East Half of the 15th Ward of Cincinnati with their son John and twin daughters, Emma and Ella. Julia died in 1862 and Robert married second Emily Pynchon Browning on October 23, 1866 in Floyd County, IN. He and Emily had two sons, Staughton Browning Lynd and Curtis Crane Lynd.
Robert Ralston Lynd died of peritonitis in Cincinnati in 1877. In our family tree, Robert is my husband's maternal Great(2)Grand-Uncle.
