He was born on February 16, 1924 to Nathaniel H. and Elizabeth M. McKee Hill, and lived his entire life in various parts of Laurens County. Edwin took great pride in the care of his home and land. After retiring from the Furman Plant of Woodside Mills, he spent countless summer days cutting grass for himself and others.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sarah Ellen Ross Hill; a son, James Edwin Hill and six siblings.
Surviving him are a daughter, Barbara Kimsey and husband, Bobby of Gray Court; a son, Ron Hill and wife, Dayna of Simpsonville; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A special note of thanks goes to his granddaughter, Tammy, who lovingly cared for her grandfather in his declining years.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Warrior Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Russell Freeman with burial in the church cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
