A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday for Garnet I. Ruffing, 93 Birchwood Drive, Pymatuning Township. She passed away at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 87.
Mrs. Ruffing was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Fredonia to Daniel and Harriet (Knaulf) Redfoot.
She was a 1943 graduate of the former Fredonia High School.
She was employed for 17 years as a van driver for The Herald, Sharon; and worked for 16 years as a waitress at the former Blue Sky Inn, West Salem Township.
Mrs. Ruffing was a member of St. Michael's Church, Greenville.
She was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 7599, Reynolds.
She was a great baker of cakes.
She married Albert E. Ruffing Sr. Dec. 30, 1944. He survives at home.
She is also survived by: three daughters, Shirley Smith and her husband Robert, Floral City, Fla.; Patricia Moyer and her husband Richard, Las Vegas; and Barbara Stevens and her husband James, Transfer; one son, Albert E. Ruffing Jr., Transfer; and 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elsie Hess and Dorothy Sidley; five brothers, James Redfoot, Paul Redfoot, George Redfoot, Clyde Redfoot and Earl Redfoot; a son, Daniel J. Ruffing; and one grandson, Austin Gray.
Donations may be made to St. Michael's School Endowment Fund, 85 N. High St., Greenville 16125.
