Born April 3, 1920 in Trout, Louisiana to John Gip Duke and Maude Curtis Duke, Miss Jessie died peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas.

Miss Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Clara W. Duke, Mamie Duke Owens, and Audrey Duke Jones. She was also predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Herbert C. Marshall of Good Pine, Louisiana. She is survived by two children, Carol "Sue" Clinton Paul and Kenneth Duke Clinton (Mary Alice) of Heber Springs. Miss Jessie's four grandchildren are Dr. Mary Suzanne Clinton Bressman (Paul) of Mustang, Oklahoma, Dr. Kristy Jessica Clinton Cowherd (Robert) of Heber Springs, Akansas, David Ryan Paul of Seattle, Washington and Jonathan Robyn Paul of Monroe, Louisiana. She also has four great-grandchildren, Gwynneth Grace Cowherd, Faith MacKenna Cowherd, Jason Bressman and Josie Mackenzy Bressman.

Miss Jessie taught 7th graders at Good Pine Elementary near Jena for nearly 30 years and she served as acting principal for a time. She was a Christian who attended Good Pine Baptist Church for many, many years. She taught Sunday School, served as Vacation Bible School Superintendent for several years, and was church secretary for 35 plus years. Miss Jessie's hobbies included painting and crocheting.

A memorial service was held at Heber Springs Funeral Home, Heber Springs, Arkansas on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 3:00 PM, with visitation from 2:00 PM. Internment was at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, Louisiana on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
