Elizabeth Latin* was born in Germany on 4 August 1841, the daughter of Jakob Latin and Maria Antonia Hager. She was married to Jacob Hartbrecht at Saint John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Eberbach, Germany on 10 August 1863. The Hartbrechts raised five children--Marie, Antonette, Josephine, Ella, and August--all born in Germany. The family moved to the United States in the 1880s. They lived in Toms River, New Jersey.
