Rebecca W. McCall of Milton, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Baptist Hospital from complications following outpatient gallbladder surgery at Santa Rosa Medical Center. She was seven days short of completing her eighty fourth year.
Rebecca was the third child of Johnson E. and Leila A. Waters, born February 19, 1927 and grew up in the Myrtle Grove community in Escambia County, Florida. She graduated from Pensacola High School in June 1944. Following graduation, she took a job as a bookkeeper for the Commercial Credit Corp.
In 1951 she married Ensign Edgar O. McCall. At the end of his active duty military career and for the next forty years, they lived in Gainesville- Florida, South Charleston-West Virginia, Pensacola-Florida, Saint Louis-Missouri, Pensacola-Florida and Warner Robins-Georgia. In the year 2010, the McCall had completed fifty nine years of marriage and had started their number sixty.
In mid 1960's, Becky took up golf and became a very good player. The game was the love of her life. The friendships which developed with other lady golfers at various golf clubs lasted for her life time. In later years when she could no longer play, her interest in the game of golf was still quite high.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her father and mother, and by her two older brothers.
She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Ann and her spouse, Terry D. Green of Citronelle-Alabama, Stella Lynn McCall of Pace-Florida, spouse Edgar O. McCall of Milton-Florida, sister Annette Cosson and her spouse, Louis M. Cosson of Pensacola-Florida, sister-in-law Betty Waters of Warner Robins-Georgia, sister-in-law Clarice Waters of Mobile-Alabama, grandchildren John David Green, Joanna Marie (Green) and her spouse, Harley Neal, Stephen Delane Green and Jacob McCall Mullins.
Visitation will be from 10am to 12 pm Friday, February 25, 2011 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, Florida 32506. Funeral services will be 12 pm Friday, February 25th at the Funeral Home, with burial to follow at 1:15 at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola.
