Bert J. Crooks died at the family home Wednesday, September 12, 1928, at 4 p.m. He was born at Buster, Indiana, July 26, 1868. In the sixtieth year of his life he passed away to his eternal home surrounded by his
wife, family and friends who administered every effort to relieve his suffering which the doctor pronounced typhoid fever. He was a kind husband. A loving father and a faithful friend. To do good was his religion and the life he lived will be an example to the community. He was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Looby, March 8, 1906. Three children were born to this union, Clark, Lucelle and Edna Mae, who with their mother survive him, together with one brother, Charles Crooks of Ponca City, who was present at the funeral, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Hoffman of Buster, Indiana, with a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Christian Church at Oney by Rev. O'Neal. The remains were laid to rest in the Oney cemetery under the direction of the Gish Funeral Home.
