Medical Pioneer. Born in Wroughton, England, he was a physician noted as the Developer of Pavy's Test for blood sugar level on diabetes patients. His work on physiology and particularly metabolism, communicated the results of his work on sugar formation in the liver to the Royal Society in 1861. His influence as a teacher in the spheres of general approach and experimental methods in the treatment of diabetes, was responsible for many advances in devising more satisfactory and palatable dietaries for the diabetic. He died in London, England, at the age of 82.
