Annie Pearl Talbert Payne, 107, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at a local nursing home. Graveside services willbe at 2 p.m., Monday, May 23, at China Spring Cemetery with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Connally/Compton Funeral Home.
Annie was born Oct. 23, 1897 in China Spring, to John Jepsy and Susie Jane Crowson Talbert. She married Oscar Payne on Nov. 19, 1917. Annie Pearl lived in China Spring her entire life and helped her husband farm and ranch. She wa a homemaker who loving reared her children and helped to rear her siblings. Her five great-great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1973; son, John Oscar Payne in 2000; grandson, Dr. John Larry Payne in 1988; adn son-in-law, Bobby G. Moore in 2004.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Louise Moore of China Spring; grandchildren, Oscar Glenn Moore and wife, Mary Ann of China Spring, Cheryl Adams of Tulsa, OK, and Carol Smith and husband Marvin of DeSoto; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Catherine Center for their care of Granny the past three months.
