C.A. was born to Jabez Mead and Minerva (Taylor) Mead.
He attended school at Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam and Douglas University , Chicago.
He was admitted to the bar in 1882 and practiced law and was a probate judge for four years in Luverne, Minnesota.
Later he went to South Dakota and in various official capacities, including County Judge of Deuel County, South Dakota for 14 years.
He married Cora E Savage and had two sons, Paul Henry and Forest S Mead.
He married second, Margaret T Devy about 1906.
He was a member of F & A M Lodge and the Baptist Church.

C.A. Mead, for fourteen years county judge of Deuel county, South Dakota, died at Clear Lake, South Dakota, on November 30, 1936, following a stroke of apoplexy. He was 81 years of age.

Cecil Albert Mead was born in the town of Fountain, Juneau County, Wisconsin , on March 4, 1855, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jabez Mead. He received his education in the schools here, at Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam and Douglas University, Chicago. His legal education was received in law offices and was admitted to the bar in 1882. The Mead family moved from this vicinity in 1882 to Luverne, Minnesota where the deceased practised law and was probate judge for four years. Later he went to Clear Lake, South Dakota, and there held several elective and appointive offices in the city's administration. He was an official of Deuel County in various capacities, the last of which was county judge for 14 years.

Mr. Mead is survived by the widow, a son Paul, of Los Angeles, California, and aged sister, Miss Lavina Mead, Minneapolis , who for over 30 years was a missionary in Japan, and three grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends. An infant son, a sister Hester (Mrs. Harkness) , and a brother Volney Mead, preceded him in death. Mr Mead was a a member of the F. & A.M. Lodge, Clear Lake, and of the Baptist Church in that city from which funeral services were held. Burial was made in a Clear Lake Cemetery.
