Rev. W.H. Townsend, pastor of First Baptist church, of which Hunt had been a member since 1904, conducted the services assisted by Rev. J.R. Balch, pastor of Seymour First Baptist Church. In recognition of Mr. Hunt, all business houses in Olney were closed during the funeral services and the bank remained closed all day.
E. Wilbur Hunt had lived in Olney since 1890 when he moved her with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Hunt, Young County pioneers. He attended Olney Public Schools and for two years was a student at Decatur Baptist College.
On 8 February 1913, he married MIss Viola McClatchy, and one child was born to their union, Pvt. Ernest Wilbur Hunt.
President of the First National Bank since 1927, he was prominent in civic and church activities. He was Royal Arch Mason, director of Olney Chamber of Commerce, vice president of Olney Federal sAvings and Loan association, varied business interests, chief of which were banking and ranching. In 1937, he was declared Olney's most useful citizen. He had been an employee of the First National Bank since 1907.
