Hubbard Walter ‘Hub' Deskins

Hubbard Walter "Hub" Deskins, 93, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Nice and Cozy Rest Home in Slanesville, W.Va. He was a resident of Springfield, W.Va.

He was born Oct. 10, 1910, in Union, W.Va. His parents were George M. and Gertrude (Compton) Deskins. He married Virginia M. (Shrout) Deskins. She preceded him in death Aug. 8, 1987. Survivors include two sons, William E. Deskins of Points, W.Va., and Arthur J. Deskins of Franklin; two daughters, Arlene L. Fields of Greenwood and Roxieanne Powers of Martinsburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He retired from Pownell Builders as a carpenter and later delivered Meals on Wheels for Hampshire County Committee on Aging for 20 years.

He was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Deborah Shreve conducted a service Saturday at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney, W.Va. Burial was at Springfield Hill Cemetery in Springfield, W.Va.
