Austin, Ira (Ike) passed away on January 11, 2016 at the age of 91. Ira was born on November 6, 1924 in Riverdale, Michigan to Alfred and Lucy Austin. After attending Riverdale schools, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a Military Policeman. Upon his return, he married Dorothy Irene Perry on January 22, 1944. They spent 71 years together before she preceded him in death on June 1, 2015.

Ira was a mechanic for several car dealerships in Alma, head mechanic for Alma Public Schools Transportation Department, and retired as a custodian from the U.S. Postal Service in Alma. Ira lived in Alma and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and raising pigeons with his son Mike.

Ira is survived by his children Mike (Celine) Austin of Shepherd, Deborah Miller of Alma, and Mark (Lisa) Austin of Shepherd; sisters-in-law Shirley Austin, Violet Hyde, and Vivian (Lyle) Thrush; brothers-in-law Lyle (Naomi) Perry and Ron (Judy) Perry. Ira was a beloved Grandfather to Corey Miller, Amy Austin, Angela (Kevin) Tenney, Emily (Kristopher) Brown, Michael Austin, Jennifer Austin, Corey Austin, Adam (Sydney) Austin and Dylan Austin; Great-Grandfather to Tristan and Sophia Miller, Noah Cote, Abigail and Alison Tenney, and Kaden and Konnor Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Iris, brothers Leon (Billy), Lawrence (Mary), Jack, and Herbert (Iris), and granddaughter-in-law Caryn Cote.
