BUILDER OF LOCKS DIES AT ALSEA, ORE.
George Clark, a pioneer in the state and one of the men-in-charge of the stone work on the locks here when they were constructed, died in Alsea, Ore., Sunday of heart failure.

Mr. Clark was a stone mason by trade and when the locks were built supertended the moving of the heavy material from the quarries on the Clackamas to Linn City. The big blocks were carried on scows. He was born in England, came to the United States when a young man, and arrived at Oregon City in the pioneer days. He lived in Clackamas County until a few years ago when he moved to Mt. Scott where he resided until a short time before his death. A large part of his life in Clackamas County was spent on his farm in the Logan district.

The body will be brought to Oregon City for burial by Multnomah Lodge A.F and A.M. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the lodge rooms.
