Phyllis Horton Cornwell, 62, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Born in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Kathleen Foxx Horton.

Phyllis was a member of Revival Tabernacle Church of Stanley. She loved the Lord and was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. The oldest of six girls, she was a natural caretaker who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Paul David Cornwell of the home, son, Paul C. Cornwell and wife Kandyce of Mt. Holly, daughter, Sammi A. Suggs and husband Greg of Mt. Holly, sisters, Sherry Heffler of Dillon, SC, Rhonda Hope of Charlotte, Dinky Dover and husband Butch of Belmont and Kimberly Smith of Mt. Holly, grandchildren, Andrew and Olivia Cornwell, Alan Suggs as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dawn Teague.
