GALESBURG - Lola M. Trone, 93, Galesburg, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at home with her children by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother and dedicated to the lord. She enjoyed reading the Bible, visiting with family and friends and sharing her life stories with all.
She was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Vermont, Ill., the daughter of Warren and Rosa Derry.
She married Robert E. Trone on Sept. 2, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa.
Surviving her are two daughters, Marcella Henshilwood, Fairview and Clarsice (Keith) Abbadusky, Fairview; two sons, Jack (Shannan) Trone, Princeville, and Mark (Bonnie) Trone, Galesburg; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters and three great-grandchildren.
She was reared in the Vermont/Astoria area and lived in Cuba, Ill., for many years. She lived 35 years in London Mills and in Rapatee for four years before moving to Galesburg.
She worked at Avon Nursing Home and retired from the Illinois State Research Hospital in Galesburg and was a member of the AFSCME Union.
Lola and Robert owned and operated London Mills Feed Store and Possum Bob's resale shop in London Mills.
She was an Army veteran wife of World War II, when her husband served in the occupation forces in Germany.
She was a member of London Mills United Methodist Church, Rapatee Church and Cuba American Legion Post 533 Auxiliary.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at London Mills United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Swain and Newhall officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in East Midway Cemetery, London Mills.
