About a year ago Mr. Bartlett sustained a fall, resulting in serious injury to one of his legs, and for this reason he had been less active than formerly, although his mental faculties remained as bright as in his younger years. On Thursday of last week, feeling unusually well he went to Elizabethtown on business and to visit old friends, returning home in the afternoon bright and happy. He retired that night apparently in his usual health, and was found dead in his bed the following morning, having passed away during the night without the slightest struggle. His funeral was held Sunday afternoon and was one of the largest ever held in the town of Jay, neighbors and friends coming from all parts of Northern New York to pay a last tribute of respect to a kind neighbor and faithful friend.
