Motion Picture Screenwriter. A highly regarded, Academy Award-winning screenwriting figure of the 1930s through the 1960s, he won an Oscar for Best Screenplay in 1935, writing the classic drama "The Informer," which was directed by John Ford. He was also President of the Screen Writers Guild (1937 to 1938).
