ACCORDING TO "THE CANNON BOOK" BY CLARENCE CANNON, "JAMES WAS THE SON OF SAMUEL AND LYDIA (UNKNOWN) CANNON. JAMES MARRIED RACHEL STARK CIR. 1785. JAMES SERVED AS A REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIER UNDER GENERAL ANDREW PICKENS FROM 1778 UNTIL PEACE WAS RESTORED. JAMES WAS ORIGINALLY BURIED ON THE "OLD STINEBAUGH PLACE" IN LINCOLN CO.. IN DECEMBER 1941, THE REMAINS WERE MOVED TO THE ELSBERRY CEMETERY. IN 1910, A MARBLE SLAB WAS PLACED OVER THE GRAVE."
