Norman Birtzer, 84, formerly of Augusta, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn, Wis.
Norman, son of Archibald and Edna (Green) Birtzer, was born August 2, 1915, in Pleasant Valley Township, Eau Claire County. He married Alyce Kirkham on May 24, 1938, in Eau Claire. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1997.
Norman farmed most of his lifetime. Before his retirement he had also been employed at the Federal Prison in Oxford. After he retired the couple moved back to Augusta.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Mary) Birtzer of Eden Prairie, Minn.; daughter, Mary (Richard) Loveless of Elkhorn; six grandchildren, Scott (Kathy Loveless and James (Jill) Loveless, all of Elkhorn, Melinda (Tom) O'Brien of Delavan, Mark (Denise) Birtzer of Lake City, Minn., Kathy (Jim) Sullivan of Lake View, Minn., and Carol Birtzer of Jamestown, N. Y.; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Eckwright of Eau Claire and Merciel Arneson of River Falls; brother, Percy (Etta) Birtzer of Eleva; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mabel Birtzer of Fall Creek, Cleve Kirkham, Doris Zank, Florence and Marshall Walker, all of Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Birtzer; and grandson, David Birtzer.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home, with burial in West Lawn Cemetery, both in Augusta.
