Born January 21, 1886 in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Barnes. He came to the local area at a young age. His wife, the former Susie Catherine Burns, died in August of 1923. For several years, Barnes farmed and also worked on the county roads. He resided in Portland for 13 years and following his retirement. Barnes returned to Walla Walla, and has resided in this area since then.
Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. William (Vada) Heimbigner of Walla Walla and Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Showalter of Suquamish, Washington; his sons, Howard F. Barnes and Carol Barnes, Walla Walla; a brother, Edward Barnes of Portland; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Marshall-Herring Chapel with Chaplain Lawrence Cousins officiating. Interment will follow in the Touchet Cemetery.
