OBITUARY OF MRS. SEYMORE
Was Native of South Dakota and Lived in Story County
Special to the Journal.
Cambridge, July 15.--Sevrie Nelson, the daughter of George and Carrie Nelson, was born in Buffalo county, South Dakota, March 13, 1890 and passed away at Harris, Iowa, July 9, 1925, age 35 years, 3 months and 26 days. During the year 1901 she came with her parents to Story county, Iowa. They resided near Shipley. She was married to E. A. Seymore October 7, 1907. Five children came to bless this home, Velda, Verla, Lester, Wayne and Bernard, all of whom mourn the death of their mother. During the early part of the year the family came to Osceola county and lived at Ocheyedan. This year they moved to a farm near Harris where she resided at the time of her death.
Mrs. Seymore was one of fourteen children, eleven of whom survive, four brothers and seven sisters. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother, Mrs. George Nelson, and four sisters, Verna, Laura, Lillian and Gertrude live in Ames. Her sisters are Mrs. Sam Switzer, Nevada, Ia., Mrs. W. B. Waltmire, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Arthur Smith, Los Angeles, Cal. Her brothers are James Nelson, Des Moines, Alvin Nelson, Pittsburg, Pa., Orvil Nelson, Farrar, Ia., and Clarence Nelson of Ames.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Sunday morning at 9:30 conducted by Rev. Peter Jacobs, pastor the Cambridge Union Church assisted by Rev. W. B. Waltmire of the Norwood Park Methodist Church, Chicago. The quartet sang tow hymns. Interment in the Cambridge cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends attended the service. There were many beautiful floral offerings.
Mrs. Seymore was a kind and good woman. In early girlhood she united with the United Brethren church. While the family resided at Ocheyedan she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church. Her place in the home, church and community will be vacant and she will be missed.
