Daphna Ilene Smythers Rosenbaum died Friday, February 24, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital.
She was born April 18, 1918 to the late Walter P Smythers and Augusta Jones Smythers in Carroll County, Virginia.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth E and Shirley Ann A Rosenbaum of Galax; her daughter-in-law Linda A Rosenbaum of High Point, NC ; her daughter Elsie R. Davis of Galax, VA; and her grandsons and wives Kenneth (Jr) and Deborah Rosenbaum of Charleston, SC, David and Elaine Rosenbaum of Greenwood, SC, and Christopher and Stephanie Rosenbaum of High Point, NC; her great-grandchildren Garrett Rosenbaum of Houston, Texas, Alexander and Connor Rosenbaum of Charleston, SC, Courtney, Colin, and Christen Rosenbaum of High Point, NC, Devin and Derek Rosenbaum, brother and sister-in-law Lewis and Helen Smythers of Abingdon, sister Ruth Smythers of Galax, and a special caregiver friend, Cheryl Bunn Poe of Galax.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Clarence E Rosenbaum, her son Wiley Joe Rosenbaum, her son-in-law Joseph R Davis, her infant sister Emma Louise Smythers, and her sister Opal Smythers Alford.
She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Galax and a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. The family will receive friends at 10:00 o'clock on Tuesday February 28, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Galax, followed by a service at 11:00 with The Reverend Richard Gregory officiating. Burial will be at Monta Vista Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 306 West Center Street, Galax, VA 24333 will be appreciated.
