She was born in Call, Texas to Guy Warren and Myrtle Imogene Kimmons Cartee. Mrs. Rice moved to Hemphill from Lumberton 35 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hemphill.
Mrs. Rice is survived by two sons, Herman Joseph Rice of El Paso, Texas and J. Herbert Rice and his wife Glenda of Hemphill, one daughter Mildred Rice Watson and her husband John of Wildwood, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband Elijah A. Rice and her son Guy Riley Rice.
Funeral services will be at 2pm Sunday, February 20, 2011, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel, Hemphill, Texas.
Burial will follow in the Hemphill Cemetery.
