THIS MORNING
AT WEST CHAPEL

Last rites for Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Harper, who died Friday in Artesia after being asphyxiated in a gas-fill room, where held this morning in the West Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. J. Melvin Ray, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated and a Masonic graveside service was conducted in Carlsbad Cemetery.

Pallbearers from Carlsbad were Dr. W.M. Drury, John D. Carr and Mervil Mathes. Artesia pallbearers were A.F. Smith, Bill Green, Bill Martin, W.L. Trembley, Sr., Dallas Callahan, W.E. Fleming, C.A. Hanna, Bill Dooley and Harold Cockran.

Honorary pallbearers were Pat Evans, G.W. Hill, the Rev. Everett Ward, Henry Johnson and Walter Marlin, all of Artesia.

The Harpers were survived by a son, Jack of Carlsbad, and two daughters, Mrs. Lawana Patterson of Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Wini Jo Spense, Pensacola, Fla.

Mr. Harper's survivors are five brothers, Albert of Shawnee, Okla., Lee of Holiday, Tex., William of Asher, Okla., Floyd of Comanche, Okla., and Theodore of Arvin, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Annabel Sullivan, San Diego.

Mrs. Harper's survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Lulu Kirkpatrick, Heldon, Okla., Mrs. Effie Ware, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Minnie Christian, Kady, Okla., and three brothers, Ben Popejoy of Idabella, Okla., Newt of Idabella, Okla., and Tom of Winniewood, Okla.
