Dale met with his Lord on Sept. 23, 2006. He was born Feb. 7, 1925 in Clay Center, Kan., and is preceded in death by his sons, Steve and Gary Thornton. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Joanie Reos, and grandchildren Taylor, Erin, and Lacy Thornton.

His wife, Maryann (GiGi) Thornton, and his second family, Angela Dyer (Jack), Teresa Van Buren, Michael Humprheys, his grandchildren Chasey Packer (Eric), and Nikki Nance, and his great-grandchildren Ashton, Lissa, and Noah, also his faithful pet, Abby.

He was a retired electrical contractor, a member of the elks, a life member of the VFW, and former owner of the Arcade Saloon in Kernville, Calif. He served in the Philippines with the Army Corp of Engineers in World War II. Dale was a benevolent benefactor to many friends and relatives, and was beloved by all. He was the kindest man one could ever know, for his 80th birthday Dale drove a Nascar race-car at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and holds the speed record for a man his age. I love you my "Knight in Shining Armor." A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Elks Lodge in Wofford Heights, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
