Ralph was the son of Olia O. and Rosella (Rodgers) Portlock. He married Opal M. Boxley on August 13, 1937, and she survives. Also surviving a son, Ralph D. (wife, Wanda) Porlock; daughter, Rebecca (husband, Mike) Springston of Sparta; 4 grandchildren.

Ralph Wallace Portlock, 76, Newton, died in his home Saturday at 4:20 p.m.

Visitation and services for Mr. Portlock will be at Crain-Powers Puneral Home, Newton, with Rev. Clifford Branson. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery, rural Newton.

Mr. Portlock was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Jasper County, to Olia and Rozella (Rodgers) Portlock. He married Opal Marie BoxleyAug. 13, 1937, and she survives.

He was a retired automobile salesman.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ralph W. Portlock, Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Becky Petty, Olney; three brothers, Kendall, Gary, Ind.; Warren, Cincinnati, Oh.; and Eldon, Albuquerque, N.M.; five sisters, Mrs. Mona Wireman, Maryville, Ind.; Mrs. Mary Williams, Newton; Mrs. Neva June Mitchell, Newton; Mrs. Rozella Lewis, Wheeler; and Mrs. Eileen Lucas, Des Plains; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
