Louise Anna Sprencel was was born in Valparaiso, IN, the great great great granddaughter of Captain Antoine Paulin (1727-1816), the French-born commander of the second Canadian Regiment under Colonel Moses Hazan. She was the great great granddaughter of Steven Dumas and Mary Paulin Dumas, the great granddaughter of Edward and Emily Dumas, the granddaughter of David Noel and Julia Noel Noel (Noel was also her maiden name) and the daughter of Louis Paul Sprencel and Emma Noel Sprencel. Her other grandparents married in Chicago in 1856: Joseph X. Sprenzel (the spelling was later changed) and Theresia (Echtler) Sprencel. Louise lived most of her life as the wife of Michigan State University professor Frank Theroux (whom she married on June 22, 1918 and is buried next to) and the mother of Louis, Frank, Robert, Paul, Charles, James and Frances. (Frances' married name: Kush.) All seven of Frank and Louise's kids became graduates of Michigan State -- the largest group of siblings ever to accomplish that feat at MSU. She and her husband moved to Clearwater, FL in 1971. Louise was a member of St. Ceclia's Catholic Church in Clearwater and the Clearwater and East Lansing Women's Clubs. Her survivors included 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
