Mr. Heald was born at Birmingham, Florence township, Erie County, Ohio, on the 3rd of April, 1833, consequently he was forty-six years, eleven months and three days old when he died. He was in business as a general merchant in Delaware County, Iowa before he came to Kansas. He came to Ottawa County in September, 1874, and purchased the store and lot at the corner of Second and Ottawa Streets, where he has conducted a very successful general mercantile business ever since, in partnership with his brother, Mr. Amos Heald.
