SUICIDE IN JACKSON TOWNSHIP
A young man named Nathan Baker of Jackson Twp. near Farmersville, Ohio , in this county, committed suicide Monday by cutting his throat, in his father's kitchen.
Two indictments were found against him at the recent Grand Jury session. One for bigamy and one for perjury and it is supposed that the trouble he was involved in pending these charges drove him to desperation and led him to put an end to his existence.
On the 8th of August he procured a license in the Probate court to marry a girl named Riley Ann Russell, filing the required affidavit that he had no lawful wife living and he knew of no legal objection to their marriage. On the same day he and Riley were married and it being soon afterwards ascertained that he had a wife living and was separated and that an application for a divorce was pending.
He was arrested and bound over to the court on the two charges. With two indictments hanging over him and the super added trouble of two wives hanging onto him, the unhappy man resolved to divorce himself from his wives and his misery, and hence put a summery end to his existence by severing his jugular with a butcher knife.

My notes: This was a big story in the day. There were many articles in many newspapers throughout the state. The above story was the most detailed. Stories can be found on Newspapers.com
