Francis Harris was born August 22, 1841. He was married to Elizabeth Young September 18, 1860. To this union fifteen children were born, eight of whom survive: Mrs. P.C. Rodman, Clinton, Wisconsin; Mrs. W.D. Ward, of Fort Bragg, California; William L., of Menominee, Wisconsin; Walter H., of Groton. South Dakota; Mrs. Ed Persinger, Basswood, Wisconsin; Mrs. Ernest Plumber, Minneapolis, Minnesota; C.W. Harris, of Beloit, wisconsin; Mrs. Otto Cook, of Platteville, Wisconsin; thirty-nine grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren also survive. His wife preceded him in death fourteen years ago. December 10th, 1912 he was married to Eliza Cooper, who survives. him.
When a young man he joined the United Brethren church. He enlisted when the call came to service in 1861 and re-enlisted in 1864, and was honorably discharged at the end of the war.
Deceased departed this life Friday evening, October 1, 1926, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 9 days. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Monday, Rev. E.J. Sachtjen officiating. The remains were taken to Sextonville for burial.
