Came to Daviess Co. IN around 1815, at about the same time as Thomas Eagle, who married his sister, Sarah Elinor (Osmon) Eagle. After his brother-in-law's death, in 1816, he is said to have spent a great deal of time away from home in the early years hunting Indians for revenge. [Eagle was killed by an Indian, later acquitted, whom he dropped into a fire while trying to show off his strength. But the court records make no mention of any pursuit of "justice" that might have been carried on by Eagle's kinsmen outside the legal system.]

He had ten children by his wife Mary (Baker) Osmon
Judiah Dyer Osmon (1811-1869)
Elizabeth (Osmon) Bennington Montgomery (1813-1878)
