Donald L. Bush, 73, of Columbus passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born in Seymour on July 24, 1932, Don was the son of William A. and Nellie P. Booker Bush and graduated from Seymour High School. He married Dawan Joyce Martin on July 11, 1959, in Harrisburg, Ill.

Don, a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, Indiana Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors, was a Realtor and owner of Don Bush Realtors that he established in 1971. Prior to his career in real estate, he worked at Camp Atterbury and as a base supply officer at Bakalar Air Force Base.

His love for life was strong, evident in his tireless contributions to his family and community. He was a past president of the Columbus Breakfast Optimist club, a coach and sponsor of countless Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams for many years and a former trustee and current member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed playing all sports in his youth and as an adult, including baseball, softball, and especially bowling as an accomplished bowler and certified bowling instructor. In his later years, he became an avid golfer.

Don is survived by his wife Dawan; his four sons, Darren L. Bush of San Marcos, Calif., Devin D. Bush and wife Nancie L. Bush of Franklin, Dean D. Bush of Indianapolis and Derek T. Bush of Washington, D.C.; and his two grandchildren, Nathan and Erin Bush of Franklin.

He is further survived by his brothers, Russell Bush of St. Joseph, Mo., and Bernard Bush of Seymour; and his sisters, Norma Short of Sacramento, Calif., and Leah Jo Carpenter of Seymour.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald Bush and Harold Bush; and his sisters, Jean McAulliff and Ruth Fox.
