Mrs. Helen Escher, 76, R. 1, New Holstein, died early Wednesday, August 4, at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton.
The former Helen Baer was born in St. Nazianz on August 22, 1905, daughter of Frederick and Mary Niederpreum Baer. She attended St. Nazianz schools.
On October 25, 1927, she married Clarence J. Escher at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. He died October 15, 1975.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, and its Christian Mothers Society.
Survivors are three sons, Fred of Sun Prairie, Ronald of New Holstein and Allen, R. 1, New Holstein; eight daughters, Mrs. Otis (Alice) Derrick of Redmond, Washington; Mrs. Lester (Marion) Schabach of Chilton, Mrs. Eugene (Dorothy) Ruh, Mrs. Daniel (Shirley) Lecher and Mrs. Charles (Jeanne) Wolfgram, all of New Holstein; Mrs. J. Kenneth (Virginia) Schnell of Kiel, Mrs. Earl (Helen) Morgan of Mount Calvary and Miss Betty Escher of Los Angeles, California; 47 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Binversie and Mrs. Ann York, both of St. Nazianz; Mrs. Rose Stein of Newton and Mrs. Hildegard Lulloff of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by a son, five grandchildren, four brothers and a sister.
A funeral Mass was offered at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph Hermsen, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
