James (Jimmy) Eugene Aaron, 70, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at home after a three year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. On July 8, 1940, Russell and Grace Aaron welcomed Jimmy to the world. Jimmy attended Capleville Elementary School, Whitehaven High School (Class of 1958), and Memphis State University. Jimmy was a member of Whitehaven Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn; his children, Vic, Nancy, Keith, Leigh and Charlie; his eight grandchildren, Becca, Nicole, Tori, Tyler, Mary Claire, Natalie, Ashley and Neely; and his granddogs Cracker, Buck, and Callie. Known as HoHo by his grandchildren and others, Jimmy was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. From 1960 until 1988, he worked at Fred's Inc. and held a variety of positions including Senior Vice President of Merchandising. For the past 23 years, he owned and operated Aaron Marketing Company. And until his last day, he was working and making sure everything was in place. Jimmy was such an avid duck hunter and his love for the outdoors was evident in his favorite activities the 12.5 Hunting Club, fishing, boating and four-wheeler riding. Jimmy had a strong faith which was so evident in these last few years. Not once did he complain, and on many occasions, his humor uplifted our spirits. And true to his character, he made sure we were all okay even in his last days. For everyone to be happy and to get along were Jimmy's wants for his family and friends. What a fine man he was and he will be greatly missed. He enriched the lives of so many, and now, his life eternal has begun. To God be the glory! The family thanks friends and family for all of the cards, calls, visits, and emails which provided support, comfort and encouragement over the last three years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of choice. The family will receive friends Friday, February 18, from 5-8 p.m. and the funeral will be held Saturday, February 19, at 10 a.m. all at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Interment will be at Forest Hill Midtown. Memorial Park Funeral Home, "Behind the stone wall" (Published in The Commercial Appeal on February 18, 2011)
