Marshall O. Hancher, 86, of West Lafayette, formerly of Columbus, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette.

Mr. Hancher worked for 30 years in the U.S. Postal Service maintenance department and retired from Irwin Union Bank in 1981.

He was a life time member of the V.F.W. and was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge with Patton's 3rd Army.

In keeping with Mr. Hancher's wishes, cremation is planned.

A private family graveside inurnment will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with the Rev. Lane Loman officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice of charities.

Born in Columbus, November 11, 1923, Mr. Hancher was the son of Bernice and Lila Morgan Hancher. He married Betty F. Skaggs November 26, 1943. She preceded him in death March 31, 2010.

Survivors include his children, Beverly (Craig) Buck of Columbus, Wayne (Kelly) Hancher of Hanover, Marsha (James) Barnett of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Cindy (Bill) Eppard of Hartford City; 18 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and brothers, Don, Bob and Jack Hancher.
