Mrs. Mary Estelle Compton, 87, died Oct. 5 in a hospital at Louisville [Lewisville], Tex.
She was born on March 11 1883, at New London, Iowa.
Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. C.R. [L.R.] Benton. She came with her parents to Estherville at an early age.
She was married in 1904 to Dr. S. Melvin Compton at Estherville, a medical doctor. Dr. Compton died in 1946.
For the past 23 years, she has been in Denton, Tex., to live near her son. She was a member of the Disciples of Christ Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one son, Carl B. Compton of Denton, Tex.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
There will be graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery at 12:30 Thursday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 7, 1970)
