Curtis was captured june 1st,1864 at Cold Harbor Va. He died of gangrene at Elmira NY Jan. 2, 1865. He served in the Civil War from August 24th, 1861 to 1865 when he died. He was a member of, the 24th Regiment,, Company C. White Co. Georgia, Marksmen.

The 1860 white Co. Ga census, show Curtis A. is 22yrs. farmer, Wife Caroline 24 yrs., JM a male 2yrs., William A. 6/12 yrs.........Parents are Levi Jackson 50yrs 1812-1874, died McMinn Tn. and 1st wife Jemima Morris Jackson 49yrs 1813-1891.

1850 census White Co.,Ga... Levi Jackson 38 yrs and Spouse Jemima 36yrs, one of several children is C.A. Jackson 12yrs... Curtis had a brother who was also killed in the CSA, M.A. Jackson died in 1863, other brothers who may have served in the war are Frances Marion Jackson, private Aug. 1861, transferred to Co.,B 3rd battalion Ga. Sharpshooters, appointed 1st corporal June 8th,1963. Roll dated 8/31/1865 shows Frances Marion present. Another may have been brother William ( W.L.)private 1/18/1862, died at home 1864, and also another brother Jordan ( J.A.) pension records show he enlisted 8/24/1861 was captured at Sailors Creek Va, 4/6/1865 and released at Elmira, NY 7/9/1865 born 1844 White Co.Ga.

He had 11 brothers and sisters and 6 half brothers and sisters. His father Levi was the first Sheriff of White Co.Ga. and at one time owned a store there. This was taken from White Hall Co. Ga. records that Lists the men from that county who died in the war...

Curtis is the Nephew of my GG Grandfather Brinkley Jackson who is brother to Levi Jackson. Several Jacksons died in the civil War.

Curtis' wife Caroline born abt 1835 remarried to Rayford Ansley whose #1 wife was Abigail. It is thought Rayford and Caroline died before 1900 and may be buried at Pleasant Grove Baptist Ch in Forsyth Co. Ga Source Google General Marion Jackson.
