Chico Enterprise Tuesday January 12, 1944 pg 4 col 1: “Clarence Eckroat, Ridge Accident Victim, Dies. Clarence Eckroat, 36, victim of an automobile accident on January 1 in Paradise, died early this morning at the Good Samaritan hospital in Oroville as a result of injuries received in that accident.
Eckroat was a native of Texas and lived in Chico and surrounding territory for the past 27 years. For the past six years he resided with his mother, Mrs. Mary Eckroat in Paradise, where they operated a small farm.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Eckroat of Paradise and the following brothers and sisters: Carl Eckroat of Chico, Mrs. Martha Pate of Adrian, Mich., Mrs. Virginia Currie of Pomona, Joseph Eckroat of Dixon, Mrs. Leona Jordon, Santa Ana, Marion Eckroat of Paradise and Florence Eckroat of Long Beach.
Funeral arrangement will be announced later by the Black, Johnson & Brusie funeral home."
