Patrick Walter Foley, 70, a former Marine Corps captain and budget analyst, died of cancer Oct. 11 at Georgetown University Hospital. He lived in Arlington.

Mr. Foley was a native of Spokane, Wash., who attended Gonzaga University. He was in the Marine Corps from 1947 to 1961, serving in Korea with the engineer corps during the war there.

He was a budget analyst with the Navy Department until 1975 and a financial analyst with Arlington County until 1995.

Mr. Foley was a member of the National Rifle Association, First Marine Division, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps Mustang Association and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Alexandria.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Peggy Boyer Foley of Arlington; five sons, Michael Foley of Manassas, William Foley of Mount Crawford, Va., Robert Foley of Pink Hill, N.C., George Foley of Arlington and Brooks Foley of Chicago; a sister; a brother; and 12 grandchildren.
