After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, Mrs. Josephine Elizabeth Griffin, age 88, of Fort Myers, FL, died peacefully at home with her family by her side, on Sunday, February 13, 2011.

Josephine was born on January 9, 1923 in Charleston, WV to the late Violet and Wiley Stacey. She was married for 54 years to the love of her life, Walter. Josephine and Walter made their home in Delaware, where they raised their children. She made her career with Hercules, Inc., retiring after 33 years of dedicated service.

Josephine was an amazing woman who bestowed endless amounts of love on her family and friends. Although her family wished more than anything to spend one more day with her, they are satisfied knowing that she enjoyed a wonderful and long life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter C. Griffin, her brother, Ed Stacy, and her grandson, CT Turcol. Josephine is survived by many loved ones including her daughters, Deborah Griffin-Combs and Carolyn Blanchett (Jack); granddaughter, Laura Nin-Pfretzschner; grandsons, Mark Wahlig (Amy) and Jason Turcol; great grandchildren, Nicole Nin, and Ashleigh and Griffin Wahlig; and many more family and friends.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, at 2 pm on Friday, February 18, where friends and family may call from 1-2 pm. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Josephine's name to the Alzheimer's Association , 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
