Donald M. Dunn, 82, East Moline, formerly
of Port Byron, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999,
at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation
Center, East Moline.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the
First United Methodist Church, Port Byron.
Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Port
Byron. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
today at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron,
with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the organ fund
at the church.

Mr. Dunn was born Feb. 6, 1917, in
Buffalo, N.Y., the son of Roy and Minnie
Brown Dunn. He married Rose Marie Eipper
Dec. 25, 1938, in Coe Township. He retired
from the former Rock Island Lines railroad
in 1979 after 25 years of service.

He was a member of the church, the Philo
Masonic Lodge 436, Port Byron, the Moline
Scottish Rite Consistory, was a past Worthy
Patron of the former Elsie Chapter, Order
of Eastern Star, Port Byron, was a member
of the Rose Chapter, Order of Eastern Star,
and was the oldest Eagle Scout of the Boy
Scouts in Rock Island County.

His greatest joy in life included family
events and attending his grandchildren's
and great-grandchildren's activities. He
loved music and singing. He never met a
stranger and loved people.

Survivors include his wife; daughters and
sons-in-law, Dianne and Larry Cole,
Rock Island, Donna and Richard Vermeulen,
Port Byron, Denise and Howard Tyler,
Port Byron, and Darcene and Dean Sutton,
East Moline; 10 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law,
Mildred Murphy, Port Byron; and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by a daughter, Darla Jill, in infancy.
