Thomas married Margaret Whiteside on December 18, 1824. Margaret was born in 1795 in Ireland, died on July 2, 1869, at age 74, and was buried in Sheffield, Sunbury, New Brunswick.

• Her obituary was published in the Visitor on July 15, 1869. Vital Statistics from Newspapers, 15 July 1869 VISITOR It is our painful duty to record the death of Sister Margaret Whiteside, wife of Deacon Thos. Bridges of Sheffield. (Sunbury Co.) The deceased was born in Londonderry, Ireland in 1799 and was there highly connected, being closely related to James Whiteside, Esq., the celebrated Irish barrister. Our Sister came to N.B. in 1820 and was then connected with the Presbyterian body. About the year 1824, she experienced a change in her belief and was baptised at Canning (Queens Co.) by Father Elijah Estabrooks and united with the Baptist Church in that place. She died Saturday, 3rd July, at age 70. On the following Monday her remains were conveyed to their resting place at Lakeville, Oak Point. The funeral was improved by Rev. Wm. Strong. The deceased left a husband, three sons, adopted daughter. (see eulogy & poem)
