HIGH POINT— Mrs. Frances Oliver Smith Cook, 87, of the Presbyterian Home, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by Dr. Charles W. Wilson II. Internment will be in the church columbarium.

Mrs. Cook was born on April 29, 1916, in Horry County, S.C., the daughter of Daniel Oliver and Cora Prince Oliver (daughter of Ada Prince). She was a retired secretary with Westchester Academy and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was involved with the youth and with the acolytes of the church, a member of the adult Sunday school and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by a son, Alton Oliver Smith. She was first married to Claude Alton Smith and he died in 1969. In 1975, she married Robert Cook and he preceded her in death in 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Becky Harrington and husband Jerry of High Point and Peggy Shaver and husband Brent of High Point; daughter-in-law Pat Smith of Colfax; six grandchildren, Tony Smith and wife Julie, Scott Smith and wife Condon, Eric Smith and wife Kelly, Steven Shaver, Jordan Shaver and Jay Shaver; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Will Smith, Maggie Smith, Sullivan Smith and Katy Smith.

The family will receive friends after the service in the Asbury Room of the church.
